Make New Friends in Homeschooling!
Homeschooling is a wonderful way to make new friends. Finding a group of homeschooling families can add so much to your homeschooling journey. I recommend looking for these groups in local churches, local co-op, homeschooling clubs and groups, and through the NCHE website. We all need a little help and encouragement from time to time. Going on a new journey alone is not nearly as fun as doing it with a group! It can help with the socialization aspect of homeschooling.
Your children will benefit from the new friends they make. They can feel like they have a community who shares in their unique educational lifestyle. Making new homeschooling friends is one of the best ways to find out about more opportunities for homeschoolers because many of the activities are run by fellow homeschooling Moms in small groups, often in their own homes.
For example, a friend of mine recently met a lady who has a "homeschool tea" once a month in her home with fellow homeschool moms! She enjoyed meeting other moms who live a similar lifestyle, have the some of the same concerns and delights, and who shared their wisdom on this journey. There's usually a good variety of personality types in such groups, so don't feel like you have to concerned with a lack of conversation. Just getting out with like-minded Moms will help you build relationship that might help you now or later.
I am thankful for the community that I and my children have been able to be a part of. It has provided us with great friendships, sports, arts, music and so much more. There is more to be had than just great academic in this homeschooling journey. Make new friends and find out how much fun it can be!
Homeschooling is something you don't have to do alone. Go ahead and make new friends!
